Catering

Highfields have an excellent on-site catering team offering all students healthy, well-balanced meals, with options to suit all dietary requirements. We also run special theme days, such as Christmas dinner.

We operate as a cashless school, where students can purchase their lunch using their unique account, accessed by their fingerprint. Parents can top up their child’s catering account using ParentPay.

Allergens

Our catering team are trained to keep up to date with new allergen information and offer an extensive range of choices for those with allergies. Our Till Operator staff act as Allergen Champions to support students when choosing their food.

If you child has a serious allergy it is best to pre order dishes with our Catering Manager so these can be prepared in a safe environment to avoid any cross contamination. We do not serve or allow students or staff to consume nuts or tree nuts. We are a completely nut free school.

If there are any changes in your child’s allergen information, or for general enquiries about allergens, please speak with our Catering Manager, Miss S Eccleston; seccleston@hswv.co.uk

Menus and Service

Our full menu is available here

Lunch is split across 2 periods, which enables students to have a dedicated zone per year group. This helps guarantee students are able to purchase food efficiently and ensure they can get a seat with their friends.

Food is also available at Breakfast, Break and After School.

Free School Meals

Free school meals are available to those who receive certain benefits. The Free School Meal allowance is automatically applied to your child’s catering account to be spent each day. Our lunch meal deals are designed around this allowance to encourage good eating habits.

Additional money can be added, through ParentPay, to allow students to spend more than this allowance each day, at your discretion.

The school require your National Insurance Number and Date of Birth to complete termly eligibility checks, on your behalf. For additional information, please refer to the Wolverhampton Council website, here

ParentPay

Highfields use ParentPay as our chosen online payment platform. ParentPay is used to pay for catering, school trips, music tuition and revision guides, and will enable us to remove all cash and cheques from schools.

Once parent’s have activated their account they can view their child’s meal choices, set low balance reminders and top up accounts. Multiple children can be viewed from one parent portal, to make managing these accounts easier.

I am already registered – Just log on with the details you were provided with and ensure that your account is activated and your information and preferences are up to date

I am new to ParentPay – If your child is just starting at Highfields a letter will be automatically generated for you with login details and further instructions. To request this letter, please contact our Digital Support team.

FAQs

Will my child get fed if they are in debt? - Whilst we encourage to keep accounts in credit, we operate an approval system where a member of inclusion will allow accounts to go into negative, to ensure all children get fed. Parent’s will then receive reminders to top up.

What if my child is spending too much? - We can, on request, put a daily spend cap onto an account. The student will then be declined any purchases over this cap. You can request this by emailing your child’s name and limit amount to Digital Support.

What if my child has specific dietary requirements? - We try to cater for all requirements on our menu and, on request, can offer a Pre-Order option. To find out more information, please contact our Catering Manager

I have forgotten my ParentPay login details; how do I get new ones? - Click on the 'Forgotten your password?' link under the login button.

I already have ParentPay for another child, will I be able to sync them through one login? - Yes, you can do so by following the instructions in the registration letter.

How does cashless payments work? - We have biometric tills that allows students to pay for consumable items with the use of their fingerprints.

What if I am not happy to have my child’s fingerprint taken? - If you have concerns about the biometric system, it is possible to allocate a four-digit pin code, as an alternative. This is a less secure option but will still allow full access of the school’s catering facilities.
