Sport

Sport is an important feature of life for all year groups at Highfields.

We strive to enrich the curriculum with a range of sporting activities, nurturing talent in a variety of sporting disciplines whilst encouraging our students to lead active and healthy lifestyles. Students are encouraged to take part in sports sessions that run before and after school, as well as at lunchtimes.

Our packed extra-curricular sports schedule complements the curriculum to help develop well-rounded, socially skilled and healthier students.

Highfields is proud of the many sporting activities it offers to students, including football, athletics, netball, rugby, gymnastics, basketball, trampolining, hockey and cricket. Our sports enrichment programme ensures that - as well as developing students' sporting skills on the pitch, track, field or floor - it also teaches them important skills to integrate into their everyday lives, such as time management, commitment, critical thinking, teamwork and social skills.

We enjoy great sporting success competitively, whether this be our basketball team training to a national standard, our Year 8 Athletics team picking up the first-place trophy for their age group in the prestigious City Athletics Championships or our gymnasts picking up a number of medals in a city-wide tournament.

Despite this, Highfields' sports programme is just as suited to students who wish to try their hand at a new sport and make new friends as those who want to compete.
