Girls' football team reaches finals of tournament

Members of the Girls' Football Team are setting their goals on a future in the sport after making it through to the finals of a prestigious tournament.

Twelve budding young footballers from Year 7 and 8 showed off their talents on the pitchh to get through to the final round of the Kinder + Sport Football League Girls Tournament.

The competition was held at Wolves Academy Arena on November 26.

Mrs R Coldicott, who runs the team, said: "The A team managed to win every match in the group stages to get through to the semi-finals, where they again won to reach the finals.

“Sadly, they were beaten by Our Lady and St Chad Catholic Academy in the final but they finished as runners-up out of the 14 teams that entered overall, which is a fantastic achievement.

“It was a fantastic effort by everyone and they should be very proud.”

Mrs Coldicott also praised the efforts of the B team.

She added: “The team did not manage to move beyond the group stages but they showed improvement with each match and certainly made it difficult for the opposition.”
